Pool terrace and full-property outdoor redesign

Project Story

The property had an existing landscape that had run its course. The goal was a complete reset: a modern outdoor environment built around a new pool that felt cohesive from the water's edge to the property line, with a palette and plant selection that required almost nothing to keep looking right.

The entire site was cleared first. The pool went in as the organizing element, and the terrace was designed around it, large-format limestone pavers laid on a precise grid with artificial turf channels running between them. The result reads as a single composed surface rather than a deck with grass filling the gaps. White square columns with torch lighting define the pool's perimeter. An outdoor kitchen anchors the space at the rear, pulling the living area away from the water while keeping it visually connected. Irrigation, drainage, and a fully replanted modern landscape completed the site.

What the property has now is a yard that functions like an outdoor room. The artificial turf stays green without irrigation or maintenance. The columns and lighting work day and night. The neutral palette, white, gray, and deep green, holds across every surface and every season without anything competing for attention.

Project Notes

Scope

A full commission, rebuilt from the ground up

Every element on this property was either removed or new. The work included site clearing, pool coordination, terrace construction, outdoor kitchen, column and lighting installation, irrigation, drainage, and a complete landscape replant. Each trade was sequenced as part of a single design rather than managed as separate contracts.

Material Palette

Limestone pavers, turf, and a controlled neutral palette

The pool terrace uses large-format limestone pavers set in a precise grid with artificial turf channels between them, a modern move that reads as one composed surface. The columns are white, the coping is clean, and every finish decision pulls toward the same restrained palette. Nothing competes.

Site Logic

Low maintenance by design, not by accident

Artificial turf eliminates mowing and irrigation around the pool entirely. The planting selection was built around plants that suit the Alabama climate without requiring constant management. The drainage and irrigation system handles the rest of the site without visible infrastructure.

Planting

Modern planting to match a modern property

The new landscape replaced everything that was removed with a plant palette chosen for visual restraint and long-term performance. Deep greens, architectural forms, and controlled spacing support the geometry of the hardscape without softening it into something it is not.
